I love the new Billy Bragg album.

It’s from 1983 if you couldn’t tell by how it sounds. It’s a fitting end to a weekend that has been somewhat melancholic.

More Stina Nordenstam because it’s what the world needs.
Like a word that isn’t worthless
that you haven’t heard in lies yet
Almost a smile
Daughter’s album drops in the middle of March (for us Europeans anyway) and I have trouble waiting. I will get it on vinyl and then just sit there on the floor and just listen. The back to the bed or maybe the couch, a pot of tea next to me, and I’d just listen like music is supposed to be heard: with purpose and not as background noise used because we somehow can’t stand the silence.

How about starting the new year with a Mekons’ tune?

In honour of Monkey Day here’s a song about a monkey.
He was an accident waiting to happen
Most accidents happen at home
Maybe he should have gone out more often
Maybe he should have answered the phone
And you’d be hard pressed to start of a song any better than with those line.
One excellent album from 2011 and one excellent album from 2010. I’d hug them and call them George if that wouldn’t make them all bendy.

Bad Religion | Fuck You | True North [2013]
New Bad Religion song! The fanboy in me can not be objective about this. (Okay, I can never be objective but still. There’s a point here.)

I think you deserve some Ossler. (It’s a good thing!)

Things I’ve been listening on very heavy rotation this autumn has been pretty much Swedish. There’s been a lot — understatement — of Ossler since his music is by far the best in ages. (Thåström live comes close but…) The thing is, he sings in Swedish so that might not be your cup of tea. I’ll gladly post something by him later if you want though.
So the other thing I’ve had on repeat is First Aid Kit’s The Lion’s Roar. Which is this song. And it’s great too of course, in a completely different way. It too embodies aspects which I associate with autumn.

“Everything is a story within a dream. That is all we know to be the truth. — And that’s how we float.”
In case someone didn’t know this, my friend Alyssa is a mean guitar slinger. (She’s damn good with words too.) I need to pester her some more about recording some mp3s and let people download.
