It's pretty easy. Or you could use this to say something, I don't bite unless asked to.

Van Daniken, author of 1968 bestseller Chariot of the Gods, is best known as the first proponent of the so-called ancient astronaut theory, which holds that aliens kick-started civilization on earth. “NASA and the Vatican agree that is almost mathematically impossible that we can be where we are today without there being a little help along the way,” Scott said. “That’s what we’re looking at (in the film), at some of Eric van Daniken’s ideas of how did we humans come about.

If anyone wondered if the Alien prequel would suck or, by sheer luck, be watchable. The luck option is gone, miracle still a possibility but you know what they say about those.

The Vatican… What the fuck?

“Green With Envy” - Official Movie Trailer (by GreenWithEnvyMovie)

But Thanksgiving is so far away!

Concept art for the forthcoming Pinocchio produced by Guillermo del Toro and made by Jim Henson Company. Still think it’s a shame del Toro won’t helm it himself but damn, would lie if I said I wasn’t giddy anyways.
Edit: and the description here just makes me even more giddy.

The Prestige. First time I see it since the cinema. Without much doubt, it must the best Nolan film to date. (The doubt only because I’ve yet to see Following.) It’s a bit hard to fail considering that the book it’s based on is pretty damn good.

Mooomins! They’re going to show it in faked 3D and old-school 2D. I’m an old-school soul so that’s what I watch. I do not like to force my eyes to adapt to an unnatural phenomenon., it gives headache.

“There! Evil PURE AND SIMPLE by way of the Eighth Dimension!”

Love this movie in a way that’s totally unreasonable.

‘The Goon’ - Trailer 2 (HD)

I so want to see this now now now.

Penelope Trailer

Later tonight I’m going to to take a small break from the comfort of the West Wing and watch this again. Because it is filled with adorable.

Crash (1996) - Trailer

Time to see this again I think.

I watched the French movie Martyrs just now. Wretched, horrible movie, a very good one but horrible. I want to see something nice, without violence to wash away the ickyness. And hugs, damnit I want hugs and someone to tell me it will be okay.
So I started to draw this sickly sweet jump-into-the-puddle image that you can preview above. It will be finished tomorrow, now I need icecream and something uplifting… Anything to restore my faith in humanity.

There were two vampire movies in 1987. One, the Lost Boys, everyone remembers and seem to like even though it is crap. It’s sort of like one of those radio plays for kids, even down to the kids save the day routine. Can you say Mary Sue horror light?

The other one though, was Kathryn Bigelow’s Near Dark. It’s everything the Lost Boys isn’t. Dark, grainy, amoral and dysfunctional. Sure, there’s the streak of redemption but that’s overshadowed by the gritty reality that people who need blood to live? They don’t follow rules. They don’t hang around in gangs in a town forever and bully the people. They move, kill, and move as the predators they are.

I’m going to rewatch the last one right now.

So I saw this new moon movie. It was amazing. Understated, lived in and you could really feel the loneliness. All the daily minutia and being up there without any real contact, no wonder you’d go a bit crazy and imagine stuff. But ultimately it’s very humanistic and hopeful even when all hope seems to have been removed. It also reminds us that 2001 was wrong: humans rebel and not the machines.

There’s a Swedish gangster movie — I will not link to it and yes, both Mikael Persbrandt and Kjell Bergqvist is in it — and the official site made me blow a funny fuse. The descriptions, the still gallery, the… No, that was as far as I got before I almost died. It looks like plot porn, it reads like plot porn, but my god, I hope there’s no porn at all. That’s a trauma we as a society don’t need to experience. How the fuck did we manage to make Let the Right One In after this? How did the film industry survive this assassination atempt? Hopefully nobody paid money to see this…

Watching Lynch. It’s shot with a multiple assortments of cameras and lenses and ways of lighting — this is from one of the behind Inland Empire scenes. Beautiful and it’s just a throw-away. I want to see an entire movie lit like this, shadows with lots of contrasts and this bleached yellowy light. I think it would be very effective in the hands of a great director/writer/cinematographer team. (And yes, I know it could easily turn into shit too.)
