With Parks & Recreation returning to the airwaves today, I thought I’d share this photo I found a while ago in a book I own. The young boy on the horse is Alfred Hitchcock, sitting in front of his family’s grocery store in Leytonstone, London, circa 1906. The man in the hat is his father, William Hitchcock.

Just look at that full, rich moustache, the sideburns, those disapproving eyes.. There’s no doubt about it: Ron Swanson is Alfred Hitchcock’s father.

Or perhaps Ron is Alfred Hitchcock’s son, because I can’t see Ron Swanson living in London. Genetically endorsed likeness is a tricky business.

First Community and then the two Parks & Recreation? Yesterday — today for me except that I sat up and watched Community at 3 AM — was a damn good night for people who like quality tv.

I also know that I’d never get a landmine from Ron Swanson. For some reason, this makes me a bit sad. No, I can’t explain it either. What would I do with a landmine? I just know that I want Ron Swanson to say: “you’re ok, kid” and I could go “cool cool cool.” But that’s not going to happen.

Parks and Recreation is Getting a Book -- Vulture

Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America will be out October 4, and though fictional character Leslie Knope gets the author credit, it’s mostly written by co-creator Mike Schur. “Got contributions from Fred Armisen (who appeared in season two’s “Sister City”), Ben Schwartz (who plays Jean-Ralphio), (Nick) Offerman, Amy (Poehler), and a bunch of others,” Schur toldHitFix. “Part history, part travel guide, sections on raccoons, Eagleton, Joan Calamezzo, Crazy Ira and the Douche — basically everything that’s ever appeared in the show.

The yearly budget and planning proposal is called THE MASTER PLAN.

Call me batshit insane, but I want that book. Or a facsimile with the same title and cover design but with better contents. I’d do the laugh bit though, the maniac laughter is mandatory.
