Finished reading the last two issues of Demo today — they were… Excellent. I even cried a bit. At six issues, volume two might only be half as long as volume one, but man, what quality through and through. I loved every issue even if Drowned made me uneasy. Large masses of water does that no matter the form and media it’s presented in.
I do really really really hope there will be a third volume later. Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan are too good to be left alone. (But don’t stalk them! Or give them lots of crap! They need time to relax too.)
2 notesI couldn’t find any good images of Demo 2.03 on the internet beside the cover, but damn. Damn, damn, damn. Volume One Love Story is a fantastic issue. It’s almost to cute, but only almost because it’s never sickeningly sweet. I admit that the storytelling is one of those that feels custom-made just for me as the love story of Marlo is told through post-its. Post-its! Lots of them.
(Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan are amazing. I wish this run was more than six issues.)

Got the first two issues of Demo volume two today and oh, my, maker. Becky Cloonan’s art is even more beautiful than before. Which is insane, but that’s the way truth works at times.
I’d say that the first issue, The Waking Life of Angels, is Becky’s. The writing’s fine of course, as usual. It’s the art that makes me go gosh wow. Pangs though, issue two, is Brian’s. Seriously. The writing in that one is so fucking good it’d have your heath stop for a minute or two. Gut-wretching.
