Can’t fall down any further
Since I was really stupid I didn’t have any cash with me to the Okkervil River gig. So despite her wonderful promotion of why we should buy an album or EP — they had gotten a speeding ticket or something like that and it was quite expensive — I couldn’t buy any CALLmeKAT things. But I’ve fixed that now.
Her first “proper” record, Fall Down, arrived this morning. (“Proper” because her EP is long and exists on vinyl, so clearly that is a real record as well if you ask me.) And I love it.
The sadness and soft way Kat sings, it makes me want to load Aeryn, put the headphones on and go out in the snow all wrapped up in the long thick scarf and feel how the ground crunches beneath my every step. However, there’s no snow yet so I’ll have to wait a bit before I can realize that. I did however transfer the record to Aeryn.
At the same time as the music fits my mood a bit too much sometimes, it makes me want to dance a bit. Now, I don’t dance. Ever. But if I did, I would and I think that says something. To do that best of 2008 list in a month will be a killer.
Anything bad? Weeeeeell, being the person I am I would have loved a thick booklet with scribbled notes in the margins and the all-consuming smell of paper. The digipack had this faint reminiscence after being glossified, but it’s not enough and always a bit of a downer.
