David Rakoff, sometimes contributor to This American Life, has died. For me this was a surprise as I’ve not been a good listener of the show in the resent times, but as Ira says in his eulogy, “it’s hard not to be stunned” even if one had know. Death, even when one knows it’s coming, is always sudden.
My favourite David Rakoff segment is from the episode What I Learned From Television in which he as a TV-avoidee “attempts to watch the same amount of television as the average American—29 hours in one week.”
