Stina Nordenstam — The Man With the Gun
There are some music that tries to feel good even though it knows it can’t — like Joy Division. This is not that kind. Definitively not. And despite her voice, don’t even think about drawing comparisons to some of the freakfolk musicians.
We’re in fairy tale gone wrong territory here. The kind where the wolf wasn’t just too late to grandma’s house, but where little red cut up the old lady into pieces herself and then framed the wolf. And no-one really found grandma’s stomach but red got a brand new bag. It’s fucking creepy. This is what makes the monsters hide under the bed. It’s also quite beautiful.
The dark windy autumn where the sun barely glimmers through the trees, the cup of tea, the whole Dynamite album from the speakers. Everything sort of fits together despite the cracks. The only thing I know for certain after this is that Stina Nordenstam, her I adore.
