I have given up on the tumblr directory and recommendation. It is plagued by the same problems as the old system with tumblarity: the readership. Had the order been tied to the crush-system with likes and reblogs and stuff, then it would be more individual, it would make it easier — no, change that to “possible” — to find interesting tumblrs. Or fuck it, just randomize the whole thing.

Look at the art category for example. Do one need help to find eatsleepdraw? And to find Katie Barron you’d have to go far far downwards. I can’t even get started on the creative writing category.

I’m all for voting and such but don’t we have enough proof that it’s pretty biased against new and interesting stuff? And I really want to be blown away.

Edit: and no, it can never be perfect and this is miles better than the tumblarity lists. But I want at least something that tunes the sorting individually.
